Trigger metal bracket taken out of original Nintendo Gamecube controllers.
I personally always remove these from controllers that I work on, unless otherwise requested by the customer, as they increase the friction of the triggers by a bit.
However, they can sometimes help in reducing noise from controller vibration and also serve to hold the trigger parts together for slightly easier assembly, and some people simply prefer how triggers feel like with these inserted.
