Mouse click switches in the 2pin SMD form factor. Suitable for Gamecube controller modifications such as mouse click ABXY, mouse click trigger (custom trigger daughterboards and trigger brackets required) and mouse click Z (custom Z switch mount required).

Mouse click ABXY:

Much easier to install on Phob 2 mainboards, as the solder pads for this switch type are already on there. The only preparatory work necessary is trimming the two alignment nubs at the bottom of the switch with flush cutters

The feeling of mouse click ABXY is very different from the stock silicone dome click pads, with a shorter travel range and a snappier response. Quite many people who go for this mod end up regretting it and having it undone, so I recommend trying it on a secondary controller first.

Mouse click triggers:

In order to make room for the mouse click switch, the OEM parts need to be either filed down (quite difficult and slow, but if done well, it will have less friction than the other option) or replaced with 3D-printed parts that already have the required cutouts.

Additionally, trigger plugs are strictly required for this mod. If you use short or medium-length trigger plugs, mouse click triggers can still have an analog input range available before the digital click input.

Unmodified Gamecube controller triggers have a spring resistance of about 135 gf and a click resistance of about 370 gf, for a total resistance of around 500 gf (±15% typically). So if you want a click input that's more tactile and comfortable, but not so light that accidental digital inputs are likely, usually the 105 gf switch option is a good choice.

The lighter switch options are mostly aimed at buttons that you short hop with – usually X, Y or Z (if also using button remapping on an OEM controller or on Phob), which is made easier by the softer switches. With Phob mainboards in particular, trigger jump is also an easily accessible option, so I advise the <80 gf switches for L/R mainly if you intend or at least consider jumping with the respective trigger.

Mouse click Z:

Fairly difficult to install in a way that's reliable as well as easy and convenient to service with the SMD type of 2-pin mouse click switches. A custom switch mounting bracket is required. A new revision of my own design will be available here soon (expected for late 2025-07).
